ALERT: A very important note: we are NOT interested in ASP, ASP.net, MS SQL, or JAVA skills--or any other irrelevant skills for that matter! Again, we do not want these skills. We are only interested in advanced PHP & MySQL skills. Having extra skills is welcome, of course, but if you apply and you do not have advanced skills in PHP & MySQL and can prove it by attaching your work or sharing links to it, unfortunately, we will add your name and details to a blacklist, and we will never read any applications or CVs from you again. It is a permanent blacklist. The reason for this strictness is the frustrating amount of wasted time that goes into screening overwhelming numbers of totally irrelevant applications.
Required: Very advanced PHP & MySQL skills. A level that can make the candidate quickly produce codes for databases, forums, portals, and several other dynamic aspects of websites. This is self-evident common sense, of course, but for accuracy's sake, we will mention that the ability to integrate the PHP code that you produce with the web-standard compliant XHTML & CSS codes produced by other members of the team, and with the graphics produced by our designers, is required.
Desired: The ability to customize an existing CMS for a specific project, or even better, develop a new CMS from scratch. JavaScript skills that are advanced enough to develop a rich-text WYSIWYG editor, to be integrated with the CMSs and websites, to facilitate the updating of those websites for beginner PC users. Deep knowledge of XHTML & CSS. Knowledge in web standards and passion about them (links open in a new window). Knowledge of Microsoft Access, only for the sake of quickly & easily exporting its databases and re-organizing it into MySQL databases.
